DBSC youth (Finn and Marlena) are taking on the best of the World at Kingston Canada.
First up was the Canadian Youth Championships.....Team Alexander reports:
Finn arrived safely in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and after a few hours of sleep was up and ready to go. After spending the morning preparing his boat and equipment the racing commenced for the first of two regattas, being the 2015 Sail Canada Youth Championships (August 9-13). With over 180 competitors predominantly from Canada and USA, the small fleet of 10 Australian competitors were up to the challenge and keen to do their country proud. Finn opened up the regatta with a win. The extremely tricky winds on Lake Ontario tested all sailors. Finn’s results varied from top 3 to mid teens, however his perseverance and focus throughout the 4 day, 10 race regatta paid off with an overall result finishing on the podium in 2nd place. A fantastic achievement.
After a day of rest Finn now moves into the next regatta, the 2015 Laser Radial Youth World Championships where over 166 competitors from over 20 countries gather to to battle on the lake. The regatta will take place over the next 6 days with 12 races scheduled.
