Winter Championship / Point Score Races 4, 5 & 6

Getting up at 5:45am on a Sunday morning in winter (or even near-winter) is never a good idea. Unless you're a DBSC sailing freak, it would seem – as more than 40 of them showed us this week.  Anthropologists might argue this was a one-off for Mother's Day, when tradition dictates that all male members of the species and their progeny are booted out of the house. Poets might go on about the crisp dry air that sharpens the senses while the first shy fingers of sun reach out to warm cold hands, and the awakening harbour stirs beneath the familiar covers of the westerly breeze. 

But the truth is clear: sailing freaks.

And they got what they came for. uncongested waters, well-laid marks, three brisk races, tight competition – and a warm shower before 10.30. Winter Series Races 4, 5, 6 done.

Super strong scratch performances in the various fleets from Campbell Patton, Zac Howell, and Harper Spacey respectively, with honourable mentions to James Tudball, Healy Ryan, Wakako Kajimoto, Alistair Sutherland, and Hiro Jacobsen.

Handicap winners: Sam Slattery and Andrew Foote in the 7s, Elouise Morgan and Pia Hattersley in the 6s, and Zoe Allen, Charlie Wait, and Harper Spacey in the 4s.
