Twilight sailing is on tonight and the forecast is for a southerly fading from 20knots. Better yet, the CYCA is not running twilights tomorrow so the harbour should have less traffic.

This weekend the club will host the Tyrell and Rousso races. The format of these races will be explained at the briefing at 1pm, with racing commencing at 2pm.
Our annual Christmas party will begin after racing at 1730.. There will be a live band provided by James Tudball and The White Tree and catering from Bern the Chef with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
If anyone has any Christmas decorations, please feel free to bring them along to make the place more festive. Come dressed in your brightest and most festive gear!

The forecasted 30 knot southerly abated to permit racing in a lively 23 knots gusting to 31. It was a tough day at the office for sailors and the race committee, with the first warning signal delayed by 15 minutes and 2 races abandoned in conditions where nobody seemed to be looking for extra laps.
The on water racing was managed by Nick Alexander (PRO) and Diana Chen (LTRAR) with on water assistance from Jim Dounis (COTD), Peter Collie, Julian van Aalst and John Vasey. Off the water volunteers were Steve London (CSO) with Kerryn Smith and Julian assisting Paul and Shirley in the Canteen before racing, while Andrew Cox assisted with the post BBQ clean up.
The races were heats 3 and 4 of the Club Championship series. Rod Barnes and Daniel Costandi won a race each in the standard rig fleet, while Andrew Cox and James Tudball each had a win in the radial fleet.

Cranes
Members are advised not to stand (or sit) under the suspended counterweights of the davits for the RIBs when launching and retrieving the RIBs. The cranes are periodically checked for safety and the club is undertaking a review of the existing system.
Paul Adam Propellor Guard
The propellor guard has been taken off the engine on the Paul Adam owing to damage. Anyone using the Paul Adam must take extra care when operating near people in the water. In an emergency pull the kill cord or place the boat immediately in neutral to stop the spinning of the propellor.

Double Bay Sailing Club is managed and run entirely by volunteers. As the saying goes, “many hands make light work.
This week we are featuring Pat Levy. Pat spends countless hours at the club maintaining and repairing the RIBs and on water equipment as well as attending to a long list of plumbing (and other trade) needs. As examples he has recently fitted a filtered water station at the front of the club and installed soap and body wash dispenses in the change rooms which are both greatly appreciated.

This weekend a contingent of Double Bay sailors will be “representing” at the Open State Championships at Georges River Sailing Club. We wish them the very best sailing.
As is customary on regatta weekends the club will conduct sprint racing. Please note the course format differs on sprint days and can be found in the Sailing Instructions. The start sequence for the day will be advised by the PRO at the briefing.
The regatta also means that Learn to Race will not be on this weekend.
