The best ILCA / Laser sailing club in the world, located in Double Bay on Sydney Harbour.
The state-wide regatta action continues next weekend with The State Masters, which is a cube event, at Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club. This will be a great lead up to the big Masters events following in Geelong. If you’re interested in joining the DBSC contingent headed to the States, please let Ian Alexander know HERE as soon as possible (if you haven’t already), so he can coordinate transport.
Twilight sailing is back on again tonight with a 5pm splash. Because of Brett Beyer’s busy travel schedule over the next few months, we will not be running a formal Brett Beyer Twilight Program this autumn. However, Brett will be running races tonight as he trains Andrew Cox. Brett has welcomed the rest of the fleet to utilize the marks and the starts that he will be setting up as part of Andrew’s training. This organized race set-up will surely add to the fun and challenge of the evening.
We’re hoping to also offer some ad hoc Brett Beyer twilight sessions in coming weeks, where people can contribute to be part of the coaching. Stay tuned.
Over the past few weeks our bins were left outside and it has been problematic as the public has filled them with a nasty assortment of mixed waste, leaving a small group of members (usually Paul Adam) with the unpleasant task of cleaning them out and separating the rubbish.
We know it’s not glamorous, but we need everyone’s help to ensure all bins are put away inside the clubhouse every Saturday. If you notice the bins outside, please take the time to put them inside – except on Sunday nights, when the yellow and red bins are left out for collection. The blue bins should always be inside, except on the rare occasions they are full and are put out for collection.
Also, please remember to recycle bottles and cans by putting them uncrushed in the clearly marked small recycling bins near the canteen in the clubhouse (not the larger general rubbish bins near the canteen) – bottles and cans are transferred from those smaller recycling bins into the large blue bins, and we earn money from their return. Each week, many bottles and cans end up in the wrong bins and need to be sorted by a small group of members. Note, if cans are crushed, we do not get money for them, so please do not crush them.
We appreciate everyone’s contribution to our waste management and recycling efforts by focusing on these two simple requests – put bottles and cans into the correct bins uncrushed and always bring the large bins inside if you notice them outside.
Robert Size is an experienced 16’ skiff racer, who would like to hire a good quality laser radial fully rigged for use in our winter championship series.
Are there any members who would be interested in renting him a boat for the 7 winter championship days and the other 6 Sunday mornings from May-July?

Sail at the snowies
A white board session on Sat 25th will be held in order to work out transport etc. In the meantime, could people email Ian Alexander if they are intending to go.

The State Masters, which is a cube event, will be held on the weekend 8-9th February 2020 at Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club. This will be a great lead up to the big Masters events following in Geelong.
The LJSC folks are as keen as mustard and offering a great experience and hospitality to all the sailors who make the trip.
There is lots to do in Jindabyne and in the surrounding Snowy Mountains so you can stay a while. They have had a rough time in the Kosciuszko National Park area with the fires. These did not affect Jindabyne and most of the alpine roads are now open again though the scenery may be altered a lot. Road info for alpine travellers is HERE.
Accommodation is plentiful and diverse from camping to fancy apartments. There is a list of links to some accommodation and things to do options HERE.
The club will be running a dinner on the Saturday night and has a twilight race starting at 6.00pm on Friday 7th followed by a BBQ. A Masters event at the highest sailing club in the land – not to be missed.

Over 20 die hard sailors braved some of the wettest weather in recent times for heats 3 and 4 of the Autumn Spring Point Score.
Conditions were extremely testing with a shifty SW breeze coming off the land, and spilling onto the course in all directions at all speeds.
In Standards, Geoff Kirk and Andrew Simpson got the gun, while in the Radials Peter Collie then David Airey both took home a win and a grin.
