So that our volunteers don't have to handle money at the Diamond Jubilee Party and we can cater correctly, the deadline for RSVP is this Saturday.  This function is for members and their loved ones.

If you aren't comfortable with using the InterWeb to RSVP and/or do not have a credit card, please bring some cash along this Saturday and ask one of the younger folk (i.e. those without flip phones) to help.

Secretary

The biggest social event in Sydney this year.

The biggest social event in Sydney this year.

Time to put away the sailing clothes and put on the smart clothes or a frock, to celebrate an important milestone for the club: the upcoming 60th Diamond Jubilee Party, Saturday, 7 May 2016.

To make it a success, please RSVP and pay for via the following link by this Saturday, 23 April 2016 (:  https://www.trybooking.com/193224 if you've not already done so.

Since we are powered 100% by volunteers, we are unable to accept cash payments on the night!

This party is sure to be yet another glorious occasion in the annals of the Double Bay Sailing Club.

For those who need some fashion inspiration for our gala event, here are some ideas from SFW 2016 which was attended by one of our regular correspondent members.

Roger Hickman memorial day

Webmaster

With clear skies, a sou'-easter pushing through Rose Bay and a magical part of Sydney Harbour almost to ourselves - we got to send off a very special club member last Saturday, Roger Hickman.

At the pre-racing briefing we heard from Jen how much Roger loved cartwheeling his Laser, from Commodore Parker where the club's extensive amount of anchor chain has sprung and from Dear Leader how good Roger was at swinging a hammer.

Each boat flew a black memorial ribbon from her mast, and threw a Wild Rose across the start line of our first race. Roger was greatly adored and admired by everyone in the club, and will be dearly missed.

"Black ribbons flying from masts as we farewell Roger Hickman. The Wild Rose #doublebay #lasersailing #sydneyharbour"

"Fabulous RO - thanks for a great day Jonathan. #sydneyharbour #doublebay #lasersailing"

"Our friend has set sail. Farewell Roger. #lasersailing #sydneyharbour"

Close finish

For the record books. 2 April. Sunny sky, light and shifting south wester.  Full rig, first race, shortened course. After a great battle with several lead changes in the last 2 legs, the first 3 boats (skippered by an old bloke, a young bloke and a big bloke) crossed the line within 2 seconds of each other.
