Boat Repair Day Rescheduled

Kirk Marcolina

Boat Repair Day was postponed due to Father’s Day. We did advise the postponement to those who RSVPed for the event and apologise to others who turned up to the club expecting it to be happening on Sunday morning.

We’ve rescheduled Boat Repair day for this Saturday at 9am. (Just in time for the first day of the season.) If you want to attend the morning you must RSVP to Craig Sheers HERE and please let him know what needs repairing!

Shipwrecked at Season Opening Dinner

Kirk Marcolina

Being shipwrecked was never so much fun. Last Friday the Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club was transformed into Gilligan’s Island for the third annual Season Opening Sailors’ and Volunteers’ Dinner. Attended by over 30 well-dressed members who enjoyed flowing drinks and a delicious meal, the night was a huge success. Thanks to Clare Alexander and Peter Collie for organizing the fun and games for the evening, which included sailing themed charades and a photo booth fit for The Skipper, Gilligan and their mates.

There were heaps of great Gilligan’s Island themed outfits, from the obscure (Andrew, wasn’t that volleyball from Cast Away?) to the stunning (who was that glamorous Ginger who greeted us?). Coming out on top to win best dressed were Vic Whitby as a stunning Mrs. ‘Luvvy’ Howle and Kirk Marcolina as a bumbling Gilligan (can anyone say type-cast?). Honourable mention went to Anthea Michael as the smartest dressed Professor.

The Best Dressed Winners.

Later in evening the more adventurous headed to Bedouin in Double Bay, where the regulars were treated to some talented DBSCers… it was clear indeed that the joint never saw the likes of Nick Pellow’s dance moves. It was a night not to be forgotten!

Kirk Marcolina

Spring has finally sprung and the turning of the calendar brings the start of a great new season of racing at DBSC.  The competition begins this Saturday with heats 1 and 2 of the Club Championship – there will be a briefing at 1pm and a 2pm race start, and to cap off the day there will be a post-race BBQ on the patio.
