The best way to find out about the club is to visit us, and meet some members.
Apart from the week of Christmas, the clubhouse is open from at least noon every Saturday from 1 August to 30 April. Our telephone number is: +61 2 9363 5577.
We are run by volunteers, so if your query cannot answered by the frequently asked questions (FAQs) below or the rest of the website, we will get back to you by Wednesday, 10pm.

As you can see from the above video from one of Roger's (a.k.a. "Hicko" or "Roger 2 Hobart" or "R2H") 39 Sydney to Hobart races, he could bounce back from almost everything. He always enjoyed the beverage opportunity after a day on the water!
There will be a celebration of Roger's life at the CYCA on Thursday, 10 March 2016 starting at 3pm: click here for details.
DBSC will be hosting our own special tribute to Hicko on 9 April. All laser sailors from all clubs will be welcome to join us for a day of celebration along with 2 heats of our Club Championship. Jen Wells has been drafted at our Special Guest PRO. More details to follow.
Roger was as much a champion off the water as he was on the water.
One race, 9 trophies!
Many of you would
Laser Metropolitain championships @ BYRA
DBSC non Pointscore sprints. Decent N/E forecast. Usual 3 minute sprint starts. 4.7s @ 2 mins, Radials @ 1 min, Standards at the gun. 2 laps, windward/ leeward with offset at top mark. Start/finish line is a gate.
We will probably aim for about 6 @ 20 minute races, but it might end up fewer, longer races for a change. We'll decide at 1pm briefing.
If you are lagging behind on 2nd lap, please cut the corner and stay with the fleet. You'll learn / enjoy it more by being at the next start. First start at 2pm.
While its non point score, personal side bets are encouraged.

Dear DBSC members
Please come and help clean the Club’s surroundings on CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY 2016: Sunday March 6
The Club has been registered as a clean-up site; this has been a DBSC commitment for well over a decade now - a contribution the Club makes to the community.
Please come - even half an hour makes a big difference.
Our coordinator is yours truly (Jonathan Stone): the site will be set up by 9.30am; gloves and bags will be available; areas to be cleaned include our rigging area, Steyne Park and the beaches.
It will all be done by 12.30pm
Noon patrol: At noon, it will be time to clean the beaches - low tide that day is at 12.30pm. So the time from noon on will be the time to do the beaches - and an especially good time to come
Please help continue this strong DBSC tradition.
Dear fellow sailors
Just a reminder of this coming race on 6 March. It will be a 2.00pm start.
Four requests:
1. Be there
2. That morning is Clean Up Australia time at the Club. I will be there from 0930h. Please come at 11.30am or noon, and put in half an hour picking up stuff from the beaches. (It will be low tide then and really good time to come and help)
3. VHF radios on, please. This time we will try VHF channel 72. We tried channel 73 last time and it was too chatty.
4. Let me know if you are coming
Thank you
Jonathan
Everyone has to learn in a two-hander. I can't wait till I am good enough to sail a Laser.
Ascham School wants to support sailing by buying new boats and arranged a Wednesday, 9 March 2016, 6.30pm function.
Obviously, in our free-market economy they don't expect something for free, so we get a Olympic sailor to give a talk, great food and beverages: click here to see all the details.
This is a good opportunity to support our community, but more importantly get more younger folk into sailing.
Dear Leader is going, so it must be an accretive activity!
Ozzy has redone the roster which can be accessed here.
If there is a mistake or you want to volunteer, please email Ozzy at vice.commodore@dbsc.com.au.
Now if you are rostered and don't know what to do (or even if you think you know what to do), have a look at these detailed instructions for the PRO and COTD.
Just some of the many DBSCers on the podium
Another bonza set of results from the battlers of DBSC: the best sailing club in Western Sydney and the biggest regular Laser fleet in the world.
Standards
1st Dear Leader
2nd The People's Prince (subject to protest due the Hall of Shame incident after the race)
Cloudy (our newest and 101st financial member for 2015/16) would have been 3rd, except for an OCS.
Radial
1st Grasshopper 2.0
2nd Marlena
4.7
1st Jack (leading the colossal DBSC 4.7 fleet across the harbour to French waters)
Who is risking the Hall of Shame by avoiding the long-long-long character-building beat into a brisk southerly after the racing finished?
While most the old codgers were at the Masters National Championships, the younger folk, under the tutelage of Dear Leader, participate in a Super Saturday Sprint Series. Capturing the wonderful day using Kodachrome was Max, who then used his computer science skills to transfer the images to the InterWeb.
Speaking of the experience, Max shared:
"When I was growing up in Vladivostok, I won the coveted Lenin Prize for School Photography. First prize gave me enough roubles to allow me to purchase all the stock of Kodachrome I could find in the city. I then had a tough decision to make, pursue my passions of sailing, photography and computer science in Vladivostok, or move to Australia and join DBSC. Easy decision."
Many thanks Max!
