A PRO and a COTD is required every Saturday we are racing. We do not operate on a Saturday without these volunteers.
PRO = Principal Race Officer. Controls the racing and the course.
COTD = Captain of the Day. Runs the on-shore activities for the day. Drives a RIB during racing. Assists the PRO on water as requested.
Co-COTD = Co-Captain of the Day. Assists the COTD with the task list as requested by the COTD.
All members are expected to perform either PRO, COTD or Co-COTD at least once per regular season.
Generally, arrival at 11am should allow enough time to get everything done (or 2 hours before the race briefing if the briefing is not at 1pm).
Emails are sent out in advance of your rostered date. Members are encouraged to monitor their emails and the calendar and advise if the suggested date is not possible. In the event of a discrepancy, the emails sent to you are the ultimate source of truth.
If you don’t send a request to email@example.com volunteering for a particular Saturday at least 12 weeks prior to that date, you will be allocated a Saturday as you are required. You will be notified of your date around 8 weeks prior to your date.
If you need to change your allocated date email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, but no later than at least four weeks before your duty. Every endeavour will be made to accommodate a change, but do not assume a swap is made until confirmed. The more notice that is provided, the higher the probability a change can be accomodated.
If you do not see your name on the roster, email email@example.com to check when your date is as there may be unpublished changes.
If an emergency arises and you have to cancel, ring Mark Crowhurst (0439 872 305) as soon as you become aware of a problem.
Note that boat selection (i.e. usage of the Jazzman, Bergman and Paul Adam) is discussed in both the PRO Instructions and COTD Duties.
