While the network effect is often discussed in terms of business, it also applies to sailing.
The more boats we have in the water the more competition everyone in the fleet enjoys. Many moons ago when we had ten gun sailors and two beginners, it wasn't as much fun as having 30-40 sailors along the whole spectrum of abilities having their own intra-race competitions.
Additionally, starting lines are much more fun with lots of boats (that are trying to follow the rules),
Anyway, this Saturday is the official start of the season, so hopefully we have every rack vacant by the 1.30pm splash. First race commences at 2.00pm.
PS: Race briefing is at 1.00pm and the SI can be found here.
