An update from QLD Youth Week.
The 2015 QLD YOUTH WEEK regatta was held over the past 4 days. The Youth Radials is the 3rd major event in the calendar along with the Nationals and Youth Nationals. It was not surprise to see the top ranking WA sailors (1st and 2nd in the country) arrive to contest this premier event. The regatta, held out of RQYS in Morton Bay, served up a mixed variety of wind conditions over the 9 race regatta. Day 1, a 5 knott zephyr tested all in the fleet including our DBSC sailors Blake Selley, Marlene Berzins and Finn Alexander. Finn opened up the tally winning the only race on day 1 by 4 minutes. Throughout the regatta our sailors each held top 3 positions during the course of racing and achieve scores in the top 5. With race 9 completed, Finn took out an incredibly convincing regatta win, the only competitor remaining on single points (editors note...one 2nd upset a clean bill of 1sts). Marlene achieved a credible 5th Female in an very tough fleet. Unfortunately Blake’s regatta was cut short with a back injury. Final results are attached. With a day of rest, the sailors reset and compete in the Sail Brisbane regatta, held in the same venue.
