The club provides several lasers for hire to new and prospective members. These boats are only available to sailors who join our race; we are unable to provide hire boats for general recreational sailing as the club can only provide a response boat within the race area. Cost of hire is $30 for the afternoon.
As a new member, however, you will soon want your own boat. New lasers can be purchased in Sydney from:
Sailing Scene in Mona Vale usually also have a range of second hand boats available.
The club noticeboard often carries advertisements for lasers and tasars for sale; club members can offer advice on finding a good second hand boat.
All sailors at Double Bay are encouraged to obtain a general Waterways licence to drive a motor boat. Details on obtaining these licences are available at: http://www.waterways.nsw.gov.au/licence.html. To obtain a licence, sailors need to be familiar with the Safe Boating Handbook (downloadable from http://www.waterways.nsw.gov.au/sbh.html). Attending a Waterways Boating seminar may also be useful - dates of forthcoming seminars are listed at: http://www.waterways.nsw.gov.au/seminars.html

Non members are welcome to join our races on the water, by registering with
the start boat before the first gun. After racing with us three times, non-members are encouraged to join the club if they wish to continue racing with us and enjoying rights on the race course.
